FOBNL believes that athletics complement and enrich the academic experience and are integral to every student’s education and personal growth. To that end, we strive to build interscholastic lacrosse programs within our community to foster a love of sport and a life-long commitment to health and fitness. We view coaches as teachers and the fields as extensions of the classroom. We encourage our student athletes to participate and to strive for excellence.
Our focus is the growth and development of the boys and girls cooperative lacrosse programs that include District 87 and Unit 5 High Schools (Bloomington HS, Normal Community HS, and Normal Community West HS). Founded in 2020, the boys and girls lacrosse programs includes over 100 athletes from the three participating high schools.
Each year, the Friends of Bloomington/Normal Lacrosse works tirelessly to raise the funds necessary to support the boys and girls co-op lacrosse programs in our community. Over the last two years, funds raised by FOBNL have covered 100% of the direct costs of both boys and girls lacrosse co-op teams.
As the high school co-op teams are not supported by district funds, without the generous support of our community, parents and friends-- IHSA sanctioned varsity lacrosse would not exist in our community for our high school athletes.
